June 18th – New Media and Online Promotion

An esteemed panel presentation featuring: Sarah Dopp (blogger, writer, social media consultant), Hannah Eaves (Director of New Media, Link TV), and Abi Jones (Heat Eat Review)

How can you be a risk-taking artist, an employable professional, and a human being with a personal life... all on the same Internet?
How can you market yourself on the Internet without annoying your friends?
How, where, and why should you set up a blog?
What's all this about Twitter and how can it become the best thing that's ever happened to you since email?

We have a lot to talk about...

Sarah Dopp is a blogger, website developer, and social media consultant with over 10 years of experience making cool things happen on the Internet. At the moment, she's the founder and editor of Genderfork.com, a consultant at Cerado, and a co-founder of Boffery. To prove to the world that she can step away from her computer once in awhile, Sarah also co-hosts San Franciso's Queer Open Mic. You can find her recent babblings at Dopp Juice and on Twitter.

Hannah Eaves has been working at Link TV as a web project manager, and now oversees the organization’s Internet operations, managing design, engineering and new technology development. Prior to Link TV, Hannah worked for ten years as an interactive multimedia producer, video producer and video editor for clients including Tower Records, Kaiser Permanente and Blockbuster. Her web management experience has brought her onto projects for Sam Goody, hp and Altera, as well as into long term positions with several Bay Area VOD start-ups. As a journalist she has covered the convergence of film, TV and the tech world for publications including SOMA Magazine, the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Imagining Reality: The Faber Book of Documentary Film, Alternet, GreenCine, PopMatters, and most recently as an expert tech columnist for SF360.

Abi Jones is the owner and editrix of HeatEatReview, a convenience food review site. Her picks and pans have been noted in the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, and Real Simple magazine. When not reviewing frozen foods, Abi develops intelligent, engaging website architectures that help high-tech, luxury, and online shopping companies connect with consumers.
